Microsoft Natural Egonomic Keyboard 4000

Well, about the only thing it can’t do is have my children!  It takes a bit of getting used to, what with the keyboard being raised at the front rather than the back, but after a few minutes, you’ll wonder how you did without it.  The integrated wrist rest is fabulous.  I’ll comment more I think after the first days use…

Induction

I have been inducted. No I haven’t spent the day having a large ferrous object pulled in and out of me, but sitting in front of department heads and asking them questions (panel style) with 4 other new recruits. It was an incredibly informative day and not at all what I was expecting. Bumped into a few people I know as well which was good.

The best bit of the day, however, was spending 15 mins on the tube wedged up against a very pretty brunette…

New Car!

Lindsey just bought us a new car on ebay!

I’ll attach a picture later, unsurprisingly it’s LPG…43p/litre.

Hopefully we will pick it up tomorrow , if not, Wednesday.

MSH SQL Provider

I wrote an monad provider this evening, it’s based on the pdc access odbc sample, so its nothing new, but still, the ability to be able to mount a sql database as a drive and traverse it like you would a filesystem is very cool. I still need to implement the write side, but when i’ve done that i’ll post it here.

I also started work on an xml provider, its elements only at the moment but again, pretty nifty.

Round Trip

Well yesterday was interesting. following my forgetfulness I decided to drive all the way back to Newbury (about the same time as going to Sway would have been) and the proceeded to install Windows Server 2003 R2. Its a nice improvement, the ‘new server set-up’ wizard does AD, DNS, DHCP and RRAS for you. So it was just entering IP addresses and dns names. I whacked SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on their too and we were done (9 hours later). I also tried installing the Dec CTP of Vista. got it installed but BSOD after 5 mins. think its the display drivers, and couldn’t fix it. it looks stunning thou, will try it on the media centre PC tonight.

Well anyway after all that I drove back to Sway (51 mins – not bad) and have spent this fantastic Sunday running around the forest with Archie, Linz and Sue. All round good weekend!
